Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the TU Ilmenau, the Group of Micro- and Nanoelectronic Systems seeks to fill a position within the project "Memristive Materials for Neuromorphic Electronics - MemWerk" (www.memwerk.de , funded by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung over 5 years) as

PostDoc position (f/m/d)

If desired, the position also offers the opportunity for further academic qualifications (e.g. habilitation).

Your tasks

  • • Working in the MemWerk project (www.memwerk.de ) on development of neuromorphic systems
  • Design and modeling of neuromorphic systems based on principles of signal processing and learning processes in biological systems
  • Implementation and evaluation of the neuromorphic systems in circuits with the devices and materials developed in the MemWerk project as well as derivation of requirements for device characteristics
  • Circuit simulation and characterization, device characterization
  • Supervision of doctoral students and student work in the project
  • Evaluation and presentation of results and their scientific exploitation, e.g. in publications, reports, talks, international conferences
  • Constructive cooperation with the MemWerk team and intensive collaboration with its members.


Your profile

  • Doctorate in physics, electrical engineering / information technology, or similar fields
  • extensive knowledge of design, experimental investigations and modeling of systems with nonlinear Dynamics
  • knowledge of biophysics, biological signal processing and learning processes, modeling of biological Systems
  • experience with systems from coupled oscillators
  • ideally, already experience with neuromorphic systems, sensor circuit simulation, material and device characterization, device fabrication
  • experience in supervising student work and teaching experience
  • motivation and ability for scientific working
  • independent and responsible way of working
  • Ability to communicate and to work in a Team
  • very good knowledge of written and spoken English (knowledge of German is an advantage but not necessary)
