The Institute of Physics at the Technische Universität Ilmenau, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences invites applications for the
The professorship will start in the summer term 2021.
Applications are welcome from outstanding, internationally visible researchers proven and qualified through research and teaching in an innovative and future-oriented research area of computational theoretical physics in at least one of the following fields: solid state physics, many-body physics, physics of surfaces and interfaces, physics of soft matter.
The appointee is expected to continue his/her research and teaching excellence in the aforementioned areas and to further develop his/her field of expertise in cooperation with the groups of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and, for example, the Institute of Micro- and Nanotechnologies. The professorship requires proof of additional scientific achievements such as the habilitation or a junior professorship. Further requirements for employment as an university professor are set out in § 84 ThürHG.
The successful applicant will teach classes in Theoretical Physics of the bachelor and master curricula “Technical Physics” in German and English. The teaching of specific mathematical and technical degree programmes are welcome. The prerequisites are pedagogical aptitude and the commitment to contribute to the further development and advancement of the curricula. The future holder of the position should additionally actively participate in the academic self-administration.
