At the Audiovisual Technology Group, Institute for Media Technology, Faculty for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, there is an opening for a full-time Post-doctoral researcher, to be filled starting June. 1st 2021
for a period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension. Remuneration corresponds to the applicable tariff for German Federal States public service (TV-L13 or 14, depending on qualification).
The position is part of the collaborative project CO-HUMANICS funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation in cooperation with other scientific groups at TU Ilmenau. The project investigates how co-presence of people can be improved by using AR technologies or telepresence via assistance robots. The main target group is seniors, with the aim of enabling social participation and being together with friends and relatives even in phases of limited mobility or temporarily insurmountable spatial distance. In the project, different versions of co-presence systems will be developed and evaluated by means of a user-centric design approach. Non-seniors will also be involved in the planned developments and tests. The results will thus be valid for a broad group of users.
In the collaborative project, the postdoctoral researcher addresses research questions related to the analysis of the research data collected in the project and its management. There is a certain degree of freedom in the design of the research questions and activities, which should allow independent research work to be carried out in the thematic field of the project. Due to the fact that the position is designed for several years, the research achievements could, if desired and possible, provide a basis for a habilitation. Within the framework of the project, the candidate will assume central coordination and management tasks in cooperation with the coordinator of the consortium. Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate will take over organizational and self-administrative tasks within the usual amounts.
