At the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the TU Ilmenau, the Group of Nanotechnology seeks to fill a position within the project "Memristive Materials for Neuromorphic Electronics - MemWerk" ( , funded by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung over 5 years) as

research associate (PhD position) (f/m/d)

Suitable candidates are expected to have the desire to gain further scientific qualifications (doctorate).

Your tasks

  • Working in the MemWerk project ( ) on memristive materials
  • Exfoilation, preparation of MoS2 and related materials with atomic layer deposition and atomic layer epitaxy
  • Manufacture of test structures using semiconductor processing technology and their electrical characterisation
  • Investigation of the process-microstructure-property relationships and process parameterization
  • Participation in system integration and in the development of a technology platform for memristive components
  • Constructive cooperation with the whole MemWerk team and intensive collaboration with its members

Your profile

  • you have a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies (master's, diploma or equivalent) in materials science and engineering, electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, or similar fields with specialization in micro- and nanoprocessing technologies
  • Extensive knowledge of semiconductor processing technology, physics of materials, materials science and engineering or in the field of fabrication and application of materials, or material characterization, or materials simulations
  • Preferably already knowledge in two dimensional and memristive materials
  • Motivation and ability for scientific working
  • Independent and responsible way of working
  • Ability to communicate and to work in a team
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English (knowledge of German is an advantage but not necessary).
