The research focus can be either on the experimental investigation of turbulent convection in gases or water applying optical measurement techniques (such as particle image velocimetry and/or laser induced fluorescence) or numerical simulations of turbulent convection in large-aspect-ratio settings. Both research directions can involve data-driven analysis and model development. A part of the position includes the support of the scientific coordinator of the Priority Programme, such as website maintenance, news communication within the consortium and organisation of workshops and annual meetings.
We are looking for a highly-motivated and ambitious candidate with excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken). The candidate should have a master/diploma degree or a PhD in mechanical or aerospace engineering, applied mathematics or physics. Experiences in one or more of the following fields is desirable: scientific computing, machine learning, flow measurement techniques or turbulence and dynamical systems. The opportunity to obtain a PhD degree is given.
