At the Department of Computer Science and Automation of the TU Ilmenau, the Databases and Information Systems Group seeks to fill a position within the project "Memristive Materials for Neuromorphic Electronics - MemWerk" (www.memwerk.de , funded by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung over 5 years) as

research associate (PhD position) (f/m/d)

Suitable candidates are expected to have the desire to gain further scientific qualifications (doctorate).

Your tasks

  • Working in the MemWerk project (www.memwerk.de) on memristive materials
  • Database modeling and development
  • Development of a digital material and process atlas for digitizing material and material data
  • Development and evaluation of methods for the analysis of such data (feature engineering, data mining, machine learning)
  • Evaluation and presentation of results and their scientific exploitation, e.g. in publications, reports, talks, international conferences.
  • Constructive cooperation with the whole MemWerk team and intensive collaboration with its members


Your profile

  • you have a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies (master's, diploma or equivalent) in in computer science or similar fields
  • Programming knowledge and practical experience with database systems
  • Motivation and ability for scientific working
  • Independent and responsible way of working
  • Ability to communicate and to work in a team
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English (knowledge of German is an advantage but not necessary).
