Professorship (W3) “Systems Theory and

Partial Differential Equations”

to be filled by 1st October 2020.

We are looking for an outstanding scientist working in the area of mathematical systems theory and partial differential equations, preferably in infinite-dimensional systems theory. Connections to the following areas are desirable: operator and stability theory, numerics and optimal control of partial and stochastic differential equations, systems theory of partial differential-algebraic equations. Furthermore, we expect experience in interdisciplinary projects and in raising third party funds as well as the willingness to cooperate with colleagues from the engineering sciences at the university.

Teaching duties cover courses in the math programs and basic math education in other programs. Moreover, we expect engagement in the program “technical cybernetics and system theory”. Pedagogic qualification and the willingness to develop study programs and their contents further are assumed.

Active participation in academic administration is expected.

Prerequisite for taking the position as a university professor are the regulations according to §§ 84, 86 ThürHG. In particular, habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements and teaching experiences are necessary.
